Top Left // Top Right // Bottom Left // Bottom Right
Two things I love to do = painting and shelling. When I'm doing either activity, I don't think about anything else, it seems to give my mind the capability of turning OFF the "reminder alert" (you know - that annoying voice in your head that seems to always be on - "I can't forget to return that call...I need to remember to send her a birthday card...what am I going to fix for dinner..."). I decided to go shelling on the beach one early morning and it was so peaceful, quiet and calming. After an hour or two (and a bag full of shells), I returned home and was surprised at how I felt - revitalized! I realized I needed to give my brain a little more relaxation, so I made a habit of going shelling weekly. I found the same thing with painting. I've never taken a painting class and don't claim to be a talented artist. But give me a paintbrush, a set of paints and a blank canvas...my mind just clears. So what if you don't live by the beach or you don't know how to paint? That doesn't matter. Find something that you love; something that allows your mind to defog and be in the present moment - then go for it :)
